Centro Educativo Multifuncional Villa Armonía “CEMVA”

Since 1994, CEMVA has been supporting the development of the district of Villa Armonía in the north of Sucre. The aim of CEMVA, in cooperation with the Bolivian School Board, is to promote the education of children, adolescents and adults.

  • Project Length: From 1 weeks to 12 weeks (Sucre-Bolivia).
  • Arrival Airport: Sucre (Alcantari) or bus station
  • Work Schedule: Monday to Friday 4 hours per day
  • Age Limits: 12 to 16 yrs if traveling with parents.
  • Airlines: BOA, Amazonas, Ecojet.
  • Vaccinations: Routine Vac, Hep-A and Typhoid
  • Requirements: Police Check/Clearance report, Spanish Immersion Lesson.

The project

Since 1994, CEMVA has been supporting the development of the district of Villa Armonía in the north of Sucre. The aim of CEMVA, in cooperation with the Bolivian School Board, is to promote the education of children, adolescents and adults. Another concern is health care for the population and the alleviation of social ills in cooperation with the youth welfare office, the health department and other private and public institutions.

Volunteer description and tasks

• To monitor the children.
• To help in the kitchen and dining room.
• To help in the Kindergarten with general tasks.
• To create educational workshops aimed at different ages, focused on needs identified in the project.
• To promote sports activities.
• To carry out activities that the project requires, such as: structural arrangement of the building, cleaning, wall painting, electricity, plumbing or any other need.
• To help in the training workshops as an educator.
• To help as educator in the Kindergarten. (It´s needed an appropriate certification.)
